Released in 1964, this masterpiece of swinging features the “Queen of the Organ,” Shirley Scott, alongside her husband, tenor saxophonist Stanley Turrentine, in a one-horn quartet setting. With the deep and dark bass of Earl May dominating the low end, Grasella Oliphant’s drumming shines with agility and groove, while the hip and earthy organ delivers explosive performances. Turrentine’s intensely soulful tenor blends harmoniously, creating a captivating soulful sound that ranges from the cool jazz of “Deep Down Soul” to heartfelt ballads.
This is a 1964 release of the US Prestige original (PRST7312). It is a rare find, seldom seen in recent years.

The surface condition is generally good, but there are visible fine scratches. While you can enjoy the dynamic sound quality, overwhelming sound pressure, and fantastic sound image of this US original pressing, please be aware that since it is a 60-year-old analog record, there might be some minor surface noise throughout.
The jacket shows wear, stains, corner dings, writing, and tape repair marks, so it is not recommended for collectors or those with strict quality preferences. If you are someone who just wants to enjoy the sound of the era, please consider purchasing with no claims and no returns.
